𝘔𝘺 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯'𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘥𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘭𝘦𝘥𝘨𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮. And it worked for her for the first five years of her career till the time she was an individual contributor. She called me last week and said, "You are already a talented communicator; why do you still learn public speaking skills." I laughed and asked her why she is asking so. She said, "I am frustrated with my career these days. Neither my boss understands my situation nor my team works as per plan. You said in one of your sessions that improving "crucial conversations can help. But why would a talented person like me need to learn dialogue skills".
I quoted Kerry, "It's the most talented, not the least talented, who are continually trying to improve their dialogue skills. As is often the case, the rich get richer." She pondered for a while and then asked my advice for improving her dialogue/public speaking skills.
