My friend Chandan called me yesterday and told me the challenges he faces after he was fired from his job. He was doing well in customer support but laid off in the company's restructuring exercise. Now, he is not getting any calls and hence was quite depressed. I explained to him about so many career choices available these days. Those like video editors, YouTubers, internet marketers, and so, asked him to pick some new skills on the technical and mindset front. He didn't seem excited and went on ranting about all the problems in life, blaming his parents and everyone around him. I just kept quiet, listened to him, and finally said, "do let me know if I can be of help". This incident reminded me of the man's lovely story in a remote town. At the insistence of my 5-year-old daughter, we went to see 'The Lion King' movie. To my surprise, the movie offered several life lessons to me. However, my favorite takeaway is the so-called 'The Circle of Life'. It is such a big symbolic deal in The Lion King too that it gets its song. It's the circle of life And it moves us all Through despair and hope Through faith and love 'Til we find our place On the path unwinding In the circle The circle of life It reminded me again that we were put on the earth for a reason. We have a role to play in the world. Can’t get lazy and give up on things. There are people that need us in their lives, lessons we must learn, and mistakes we must make. Have to take our place in the natural flow of things. Perhaps a fictional speaking lion has got more sense than most of us real-life people. ;)
