One day my friend Binny Brown went to the CEO and said, "I'm not interested in coming to the office anymore."
The CEO responded, "But why?"
Binny said, "Ah! I see many employees speaking badly about other Employees on back of him/her; Few employees looking at their fellow employees in a wrong way, there are hell lot of things that I can prove you wrong in our Office."
Some people do a lot of politics and talk all negative all the time. Few only do gossips all the time.
CEO said, ok, but I have a request to make before you leave. Binny asked, please tell me what I can do for you, sir.
CEO said I want you to do this one last thing sincerely. I want you to take a glass of water filled to the brim and walk around the office area three times without spilling a single drop of water on the floor. After that, you may leave the job if you wish to.
As it sounds to you, it sounded weird. However, Binny thought it was just a matter of a few minutes anyway. He took a glass full of water and walked three times around the office floor. He then came to the CEO to tell him, "I did it."
CEO asked, "When you were walking around the Office floor, did you see any employee speaking badly about another Employee? Any Gossips? Any disturbances?
Binny replied, "no."
"Did you see any Employee looking at other employees in the wrong way ?"
"No"
"You know why?"
"No"
"You were focused on the glass, to make sure you didn't tip it and spill any water.
Isn't the same goes for our life too?
When our focus is on our priorities, we don't have time to see others' mistakes, gossip politics, negativity, etc.
The fact is anywhere we go, we are going to find toxic people. Change of job a change of situation doesn't necessarily ensure freedom from such people. We should certainly do what we can to change things around us positively. But when we know that we've done our best and things remain more or less the same, we should shift our focus to the glass of water, our priorities, our growth, our excellence.
Then we won't be as much affected by the negativity around us.
Life purpose & priorities are our mental armor to deal with such toxic situations and people.
So, the solution is not fixing those toxic people, but fixing ourselves and finding our life priorities.
Thank You!
